Art work made in Greece, on the basis of the following story:
Why did you hit me so hard?
Just recently a news of a very famous music artist/ idol suicide left me in tears.
I didn’t even know this idol to be honest, because I wasn’t into this type of music, but I could see how much he was loved and worshiped judging by the videos and comments from his fans all around the world.
Why did it hit me so hard?! I wondered how cruel is this world.
I guess it hit me hard because he “had everything” in his life and yet he decided to end it.
But did he really had a LIFE, actually? Idolizing a living ordinary human?
Being famous, having no privacy, expected to be a constant role model/ somewhat God, not having freedom of speech, only saying what others would like to hear, writing best song, performing better then last time, perfectionism…..depression!
Depression is a dangerous mind field yet people find it “not much of a big of deal”. “Just a Phase” “Keep yourself occupied!”
Watching his old videos while he was ALIVE and suffering, he actually told people how should they treat and what to say to a person that suffers from depression to make them feel better, but I guess everyone thought it was “just a phase” or didn’t believe that an idol can be depressed.
Depression is not a phase, it will not be better tomorrow, if we take it so light to heart.
We should act the moment we see someone suffering regardless of his popularity status.
We are all just humans, and I think entertainment industries that train these idols should care more of mental health of their trainees since working in that kind of industry can be utterly INHUMANE.
